Rachel was born and brought up in London in an animal-loving family with lots of pets, and can’t remember wanting to be anything other than a vet. She gained an honours degree in applied biology in 1992, particularly enjoying the biochemistry and medical microbiology aspects, and then studied at the Royal Veterinary College, qualifying as a veterinary surgeon in 1997.

Rachel has spent the whole of her professional career (twenty-three years and counting) in private clinical practice, much of it in Somerset. She really does love all creatures great and small and their owners, many of whom she has been seeing for over twenty years and who have become friends. Rachel is a qualified veterinary acupuncturist and often sees cases for additional pain management. She enjoys all aspects of clinical work, but has a particular interest in cardiology and surgery.

Rachel also has a habit of talking to her own animals in curious accents which she is convinced they can understand.

When not working, Rachel enjoys riding her crazy but beloved horse, looking after three dogs and a cat, and of course two children.
